Ceri’s diary travelling overland to Australia in 1978

In March 1978 I joined a bus travelling from London to Kathmandu. I decided not to travel alone for this part of my journey as I would be travelling through countries where a single blonde 23-year-old girl from the UK might attract a lot of unwanted attention. I felt confident to travel on alone from Thailand onward to Australia where I had secured a work visa.

Writing up this diary from the letters I sent home in 1978 is going to be a long process so most links here will not work until I write up those sections , but here’s a start.

Please note that some of my views belong to my less worldly 23 year old self!
