Neil: Excitement looms , we are closing in on Vienna . Up early and away by 07.50. We start in September sun only after 2 miles we are enveloped in mist which gives a surreal atmosphere to cycling. It means we just keep cycling and by 10.30 we are in Vienna 25 miles later . I am excited to visit the oldest ferris wheel in the world. It appears in Graham Greens ‘ The third man ‘ with Orson Wells also ‘ The living daylights’ 1987 Bond film . I also visited it in 1968 with my parents!
Next we cycled to Freuds house which was fascinating. He escaped to England in 1939 but died shortly afterwards of heart failure. His couch and room are set up for us to see . Cycling through Vienna is much like Paris , great cycle paths and very forgiving traffic. We complete the day with a concert of all the traditional music from Mozart / Strauss and Vivaldi

As we approached Vienna, ships were lined up with hundreds of bikes
Our first port of call in Vienna – a huge amusement park!
Neil shared happy memories of being here aged 16 with his parents
It’s the oldest ferris wheel in the world. The steel framework was like the Eiffel Tower! Amazing views from the top
What a ride! Not for us.
“A beer a day keeps the doctor away“
After here, we went to the Freud museum. Travelling with Neil goes from one extreme to the other! Love it!!
