Ceri: Neil is amazing, but more of that later.
This morning we decided to jump on a train for a few stops to get out of the industrial area quickly. It was such an easy experience, both buying the tickets and the journey. We wheeled our bikes straight onto the train over a little shelf which slid out between the train and the platform edge at our stop. It was a very modern train with plenty of room for bikes and even the announcements were in English.

Last night I spent hours and hours on line trying to find accommodation for tonight in Melk, but to no avail. So we decided to wing it and find a guesthouse or something on arrival.
But today no luck, and it’s such a lovely old town. We knocked on many hotel doors, but they were all full, so we decided to have a beer and decide where else to stay. Then Neil suddenly decided to ask the landlord if he knew anywhere, and lo and behold, he owned 3 hotels and had an empty 3 bedroom department available, right in the centre of the Altstadt. Absolutely amazing. And it gave us a lovely evening in this beautiful town.
