Ceri: It’s been such a picturesque day cycling along the river through pretty towns. The river levels rise and fall depending on which side of the dams we are.

And it’s been hot! 30 deg. . so the highlight of today was finding a secluded spot by the river for a swim with a shady bench for a picnic.

Morning reflections
Typical bakery – beautiful cakes and delicious morning coffee
Low river
In he goes! (Higher river level)
Me too – glorious and cool – barely any flow
Our picnic bench
Lots of Swiss chalet looking houses and pretty churches

Higher river levels before a dam
Locks at Passau

After the cool shade along the river, the heat reflected off the hard surface as we cycled into Passau passing factories and all kinds of industry. It was hot and busy after our calm cycling day.

Then along the river front near the Altstadt were rows of empty cruise ships and people everywhere working out where they needed to be, with buses lined up for them. It was too hot to take a photo.

We’ve booked a quaint cool apartment in the Old Town for 2 nights . A welcome rest after about 600km and 10 days cycling. Half way there.
